Hello world! 1st post, Arsenal

Welcome to coffeenottea.wordpress.com. This is my first post. Hope you enjoy the stay at the blog. Lets get rolling.

This post is about Arsenal, yes, a football club, Gunners, or whatever nickname they have, the club that i support (beside Leeds United), anyway, did i mentioned that i love football? (soccer is what i meant if your American, not those American football) This is about Arsenal and its leaking defense.

With Real M Project Galatico 2 shaping up, with Kaka is set to join from AC Milan for record breaking sum of transfer money, today, it seems that Cristiano Ronaldo is also making headline by “almost” confirming a deal to Real. While, i’m happy to see these moves, which generally makes Real to again be competitive in La Liga, im glad that Fabregas, the 22 years old Arsenal playmaker ending up the speculation that he is leaving the Gunners.

“Fabregas: I won’t follow Ronaldo to Real Madrid – I want to win trophies at Arsenal” (Source)

With Arsene Wenger (Arsenal manager, always makes me wonder why Arsene and Arsenal sounds so similar) is keen to retain its key main and strengthen the squad. There is more than loyalty that Fabregas should stay at the Gunner. Imo, Fabregas won’t be what he is today without the guidance of Arsene Wenger, he may still be a reserve at Barcelona if not for his cheeky move to Arsenal when he’s an unknown (unknown to general public, you and me) youngster.

“Wenger is keen to retain the services of his key men this summer, while also looking to strengthen an Arsenal squad which came up short again last season in the games which really mattered.” (Source)

Arsenal is finally set to make its first transfer signing of the summer with an eye on Ajax’s Thomas Vermaelen (can play either at Left-back or Center-Back) for a fee of £10 million.

Van Persie said. “There’s nothing wrong with the qualities of Vermaelen. He can play as a left-back or a central defender and we need this type of player.” (Source)

He is being mock as “too small” by former Arsenal captain Tony Adams about his height – he is 5ft 11ins, (hey, i’m almost his height, oh, poor little guy, i feel your grieve and sadness) Unfortunately, i do agree with Adams assessment, he may be too small for a center back role. Why? English top flight football is all about physical game and i still recall many foreign players who INVADE the EPL / BPL found it way too physical for them (Andriy Arshavin, being example, mentioned in his interview that he felt shell shock at how physical the game is). Vermaelen may be a good buy, but it will not be the exact defensive solution Arsenal need at the moment. The English league is full of physical team, eg, Stoke, Hull City, Bolton, Blackburn etc, remember how Didier Drogba bullied Arsenal defence physically and mentally (nightmare for generation)? And Oh my godness, Philippe Senderos aka the defender that get bullied by drogba at that time, is now pending to know his future of whether AC Milan take up the option to buy Philippe Senderos after a year-long loan at the San Siro.

“As far as I am concerned I would like to stay in Milan because I do not think that there is a place for me at Arsenal,”
“I believe that my style of play is more suited to Italian football than the English game. I am optimistic and I want another opportunity. A new coach has arrived and I will have more chances to play.” said Senderos. (Source)

To Sanderos: Ya right, you (Senderos) have been given alot of games to cement your place in Arsenal defence, anyway, you failed to do so. What makes you think you can do what you cant do in Italy? Its the mentality thing, if your Milan deal is off (Milan opt not to buy, which is likely, lol) i hereby challenge you to fight your way into the Arsenal defence, be a man, fight for it. You have my blessing.

In another news, French defender, Sebastien Bassong of Newcastle (relegated, sad story) are looking forward for a return to premier league football with Arsenal and Tottenham remain interest in the 22-year-old.

The former Metz player told L’Equipe: “I want to play Premier League football. I want to leave Newcastle. I am going to have to assess the offers, study the sporting project as well as the time of play that they want to offer me.” (Source)

Since this post all about sorting out Arsenal defence, here’s a quote from Steve Bould, the Arsenal youth team manager on Kieran Gibbs, who became a first-team regular (as left back understudy for Gael Itchy) last season just two years after playing in the youth ranks:

“Kieran Gibbs is in there at the moment so anything over and above one or two players is a massive bonus and that’s what we’re striving for because it’s a world-class level.”(Source)

Well, to sum this up, imo if Arsenal is really trying to fix their leaking defence:

Need to have competition for places at the back, [Kieran Gibbs vs Gael Itchy?] [Toure vs Gallas vs Silvestre?] [Eboue vs Sagna?] 7 defender? who else you have in mind?

Need dirty footballer. Meaning, Arsenal are not good enough, no doubt, they have alot of flair in the form of attacking third with the likes of Walcott (Superspeed, but not as skill as Messi, wonder why he always try to dibble past defender, while he can be better used to breakdown offside trap, run thought the channel, or get behind defender by receiving through pass, he is younger than me, so who i’m i to criticize, just my pov), Arshavin (Superskill, but arrogant, what? Women cant drive? he play better football than me, ok stop criticize), Van persie (Superskill, want more $$$?), Adebayor (SELL HIM FAST, HE IS LAZY TO CHASE DOWN LOOSE BALL), Fabregas, but hey, they all play like a football artist, but not a dirty footballer, these players (and others that i didn’t mentioned their name) need to get dirty more often, goes into tackle, close down faster etc.

Better keeper imo, while Almunia have some really really good game last season, there is really lack of real competition at that section [Almunia vs Fabianski vs Vito Monaxxx?] get a more establish keeper, eg, Robert Green (West ham) and let them compete for the place.

Ok, done with today’s post. TQ for reading. Alot of grammatical mistake, dont bother.
